The Cure

Biography

Matthieu Hartley

Matthieu Born February 4th, 1960 in Smallfield, England

Matthieu entered the band at keyboards at the same time Simon Gallup came into the group. He played keyboards for the first time in concert with the group on 16th November, 1979 at Eric's in Liverpool. Matthieu's final live appearance came 26th August, 1980 at Prospect Hill in Melbourne, Australia.

The whole band, including Robert and Matthieu, saw his departure coming. Matthieu did not like the lifestyle of being on the road all the time, and he hated the way Che Cure's music was headed. While Robert wanted to play songs like "At Night", Matthieu loathed gloom and preferred songs such as "Play For Today".
