Biography

Paul Thompson

Porl Born November 8th, 1957 in Wimbledon, England

Porl is one of the former members with many fans due to his long stint with The Cure. He was a part of the band before they were The Cure as well, but never actually joined the group until The Top Tour. His first show was 25th April, 1984 at City Hall in Newcastle. He immediately added saxophone into The Cure's instruments played on stage. Porl also often played the keyboards on top of his lead guitar role in the group. Porl stayed with the group through the 'Wish' album adding his presence by playing harder and louder guitar over the years.

Porl left the band soon after the completion of the Wish Tour. His last show on stage with the group was the Wish Tour finale at the Point Depot in Dublin, Ireland. He left the band to expand parched art [which provided much of the cover art for the cure over the years], and also to go on tour with Page & Plant.

Porl is married to Robert's sister, Janet.
